NOTES:

Balser Ruble was born in Germany.  He and his parents came to Virginia, but apparently had ties in Germantown, PA.  He was a stone mason.
He married Dorothy Surber, daughter of Jacob Surber and Catherine Haller. Early 1800's, the family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. Soon they moved on to Highland county, Ohio, where they settled.  In Virginia, the Ruble and Coffman families were interelated, and Coffmans also came to Ohio.
Balser lived to be 97, Dorothy 93.  I don't pretend to know much about the family; the list of children above is tentative.  More research is needed.
Here are the surviving children according to Duane Borden: John, Henry, George, Jackson, Katie, Betsy, Dollie, Sally, Pollie.
Here are the children named in Balser's will, 19 Sep 1848: "John Ruble heirs", Henry, George W., William J., Catharine, Elizabeth, Dolly, Sally, Mary, Motlane, Lydia.
The sons are not difficult. I imagine that William J. is Jackson and may be Jacob, b. 1801 VA. Was John, b. 1805 TN, actually Johannes, b. 1798 VA?
The problem is the daughters: Duane lists 5, the will 7.     Mary married Joseph Mock. I imagine that Motlane is Magdalena, b. 1799 VA.
So was Lydia nicknamed Polly?

It is thanks to F C Ruble, who submitted records to Dee Pavey's Family Records site, that we can connect Balser Ruble to Polly (Coffman) Wamsley.

A law suit was filed March 1858 naming Jackson Ruble et al. as defendants and identified as "children and heirs of Balser Ruble, dec'd late of Highland County, Ohio."
Et al. includes "The children of Polly Coffman, dec'd., late Ruble:
Jacob Coffman, Jr. and Polly, late Coffman, the wife of Asbury Wamsley, all of the Territory of Kansas; Samuel, John, Philip, and George Coffman."
