JOHN SULLIVAN FLOATS are manufactured by R n Z Models . They are hotwire cut by hand over templates for accuracy from solid core small bead foam.
They feature a broad bow for spray deflection, a flat bottom for maximum efficiency and balance fore and aft volume for proper floatation. The float cores come with plywood deck plates and step and stern stiffeners. Properly mounted, they will handle any wind/surface condition advisable to fly in.
To pick a set of floats for your plane, measure the fuselage from the prop hub to the rudder hinge line and compare that length to the chart below. The fuselage length is the primary governing factor. Ideally the step, which is positioned at half the float length, should land under the center of gravity while the front of the float should extend at least 2" in front of the propeller arc. Check this measurement on your plans. If you don't have the 2" extension, pick the next larger size. Buoyancy and engine sizes are shown for reference only. A 4 page instruction sheet with rudder patterns and an orientation drawing, along with glassing/sheeting techniques, is also included. Glass or sheet materials are not provided. JOHN SULLIVAN FLOATS are shipped in their own cores for maximum protection.
