| BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: |
The sorcerer from "Fantasia" was retroactively named Yen Sid in honor of the Disney Company's founder: Walt Disney (i.e., Yensid is Disney backwards). Yen Sid was portrayed as a stern father-figure for the young impetuous Mickey Mouse in "Fantasia" (obviously a role he was made for). |

| LITTLE KNOWN SECRETS: |
"Yensid Retlaw" was the pseudonym used by Walt Disney for story credit in the live action film "Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N." The name Yen Sid is also one of the very few "Y" named characters in Disney animation (the others include the frequently reused Yellow Beak the Parrot form several comics, like "Four-Color" #9 in "Donald Duck Finds Pirate Gold" - Aug. 1942 (see the profile for "Jose Carioca"), and an unused movie script "Morgan's Ghost" -1942; Yascha the Hunter from "Peter and the Wolf" in "Make Mine Music" Apr. 20, 1946; though some use Yellow the Playful Fluppy, his real name was Dinki in "Disney's Fluppy Dogs" - Nov. 27, 1986), while Xerxes, Mozenrath's pet flying lamprey from "Aladdin: The Series," and Xanatos from "Gargoyles" are the only "X" named Disney cartoon characters (for those alphabetical requirements some may have). |
