Reginella is a character created in 1972 by Rodolfo Cimino and Giorgio Cavazzano in "Paperino e l'avventura sottomarina" in TL #873 (1972) which began an epic tale which, to many fans, has become a classic Love Story for Donald Duck. In this tale Donald is deepsea diving when he is captured and taken prisoner by a race of submariner ducks. In their kingdom he meets and falls in love with their ruler, the beautiful Reginella. "Paperino e il ritorno di Reginella" in "Almanacco Topolino" #213 (1974) is the second installment of Donald's special love story, and perhaps the most romantic. Other chapters continuing the tale of Donald and Reginella are told in TL #1884 in "Paperino: Reginella e la minaccia terrestre"; and in TL #1673 in "Paperino e il matrimonio di Reginella" (1987) Donald and Reginella fall in love, but Donald's behaviour reveals him to be a coward, not ready to share the thrown with Reginella and is sent back to the surface. |
