| BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: |
As with Baloo and Louie, Shere Khan has also gone through several incarnations in animation. In Disney's "Jungle Cubs" he is the resident bully and a rascal of a tiger. Brawny and crafty, he already exhibits a rather blase attitude, and thinks himself better, stronger, and wiser than his friends. He's a bit of an outsider, and is always looking for ways to be accepted, but often learns that he can earn respect by being nice. The sensitive side is buried deep within this resident bully and can be seen on occasion. In "The Jungle Book" Shere Kahn has has gone from bully to predator. All the beasts of the jungle fear him, but thier one defense is that he fears fire (something Mowgli uses to his advantage).
In "TaleSpin" he has become more anthropomorphic and is now commonly known as 'Mr. Khan'. He is the president and CEO of 'Khan Industries', he is the lord of the 'Corporate Jungle' (especially when your company is worldwide, and worth over $3 billion in circa 1935). He is in charge of all the major things that are required in Cape Suzette, including Oil, Air Cargo. He is a very calm and collected on the outside, but inside he's a ferrocious and powerful magnate, enough to make his own rules when it suits him. As in the jungle where he evolved, he remains at the top of the foodchain. See also the DTA entry under "Disney's TaleSpin" and "Jungle Cubs." |
