BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: Dora is a duckbill who can be seen quite frequently in stories about Daisy.
HISTORICAL FACTS: Dora was called by name in Dell's 4-color "Daisy Duck's Diary" #948 (11/58) in the tale called "Fibber Flipper" about a rug Daisy Duck received from Uncle $crooge which supposedly had magic powers. It caused people to slip and fall when they told lies. Dora, Donald Duck, Clara Cluck and Clarabelle Cow all slipped on it. Dora also appeared in another 4-color "Daisy Duck's Diary" #1247 (12/2/62), again in 4-color "Duck Album #649 is the "Daisy Duck" tale, and in "Ludwig von Drake" #1 in "Winning Ways." Only in a couple of these tales does she actually actively participate, mostly she is just one of the background characters. She seems to be a regular when Clarabelle, Daisy and Cluck get together to play cards, and she is a member of Daisy's "Chit-Chat" gossip club that does charity fund raisers. I seem to recall reading once that her last name was "Duck" but I'm not certain. In appearance she looks very much like Daisy, though has bluegray or brown hair which curls in front and flips up in the back. In a couple of tales her hair color appears white or yellow, but I think these are colorist mistakes. Her beak is a little more pointed than Daisy's, more like Gladstone Gander's and she usually wears a green dress with red shoes. Three other appearances of Dora can be found in "Donald Duck" #84 in "Getting the Vote" and #112 in "The Custom Car Caper," "Walt Disney's Comics and Stories" #267 in "Gyro Gearloose: The Life of the Party," and in "Walt Disney's Comics and Stories" #336 in the tale "A Do-it-All for Daisy," and again in "WDC&S" #447 in "Ludwig von Drake: Strain in Spain" (Dec. 1977).
