BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: Dolores the Elephant is a non-anthropomorphized pachyderm first seen in "Tiger Trouble" (1945) where she is Goofy's mount while he is on safari in Africa, during a tiger hunt. Her next appearance is in "The Big Wash" (1948) where somehow Dolores is now a circus animal. Goofy has been assigned, as her attendant, to give her a bath. She tries everything, including disguising herself as a clown (only Goofy would be fooled by this ruse, naturally). In the end Goofy wins, but she still gets him back by spraying him with liquid mud. Her final film appearance was with Donald Duck where she now belongs to the zoo in "Working for Peanuts" (1953). In this story, Donald Duck is now her attendant and has fed her some peanuts, however the troublesome Chip 'n' Dale attempt to steal her nuts, and she and Donald do everything they can to stop them. Dolores the Elephant only apparent print appearance is in WDC&S #77 (Goofy: The Big Wash) - though the elephant is not named here like she is in the film of the same name. Also, while she is not named in her first appearance ("Tiger Trouble") she looks and acts very much like her next two appearances where she is named.
HISTORICAL FACTS: Two other famous elephants include Bobo, "Mickey's Elephant" from the cartoon and comic strip of the same name, and Dumbo, who has guest-starred in quite a few comic book stories with Mickey, Bambi, Gepetto and others.
