Bianca the Goldfish is Mickey Mouse's pet gold fish seen in at least two cartoons. In the first, "Mickey's Parrot" (1938), a lost talking parrot wanders into Mickey's house and becomes trapped in the cabinet below Bianca's fishbowl. Pluto, not knowing about the bird, is shocked when he assumes Bianca is basically giving him a tongue-lashing. Pluto, irritated, decides to get back at Bianca only to have her leap from her bowl and bite him on the nose. Her second, and possibly last, appearance was in "Lend a Paw" (1941) when Mickey takes in a stray kitten who makes Pluto jealous for Mickey's attention. In an attempt to get the kitten in trouble, Pluto tries to get the kitten to notice Bianca. The kitten does notice Bianca and causes the fishbowl to fall to the floor (though not to break). Hearing the noise, Mickey bolts into the room and sees the results, though instead of blaming the kitten, Mickey asks Bianca what happened. Bianca proceeds to gurgle out Pluto's name and point with her fin in his direction, causing Pluto's scheme to backfire. While both Mickey and Minnie have been shown to have goldfish in other cartoons these two are the only ones where Bianca is named. |
