Only Abis Mal appeared in the film "The Return of Jafar," and Haroud didn't make an appearance until "The Prophet Motive" where he appears with Abis Mal. Abis Mal is the leader of a band of thieves who, despite his ineptitude, still occasionally managed to pull a good heist. Having been defeated by Aladdin and his companions at every encounter, Abis Mal is the sworn enemy of Argabah. Aside from greed, Abis Mal's prime motivation against Aladdin is that he wants to wear the "big hat," (i.e., become Sultan). He also wants Aladdin's Genie. Haroud is Abis Mal's adviser and right hand man, though one might wonder why, since obviously Haroud is the one with the intelligence. However, Haroud is the one pulling the strings; he avoids doing any real work that would possibly put *him* in harm's way. Abis Mal is easy to manipulate (frighteningly so), and when he does occasionally profit, Haroud reaps the benefits as well. |
