If you see me on the street
Screaming, talking, holding forth
To myself
If you see me grumbling, mumbling
Feel not fear.
This is what you need to hear
I am suffering a condition
That puts me in the position
Of appearing odd; I didnt ask
For this, it came unbidden.
Now there is no place to keep it hidden
Theyve shut the doors to places where
There used to be treatment, food and care.
The system doesnt have the resources
So I have no recourse
But to wander un-sheltered and alone.
I have no place to call my home.
Unless something is done to help me
help me find cover and care
You shall continue to see me there
On your streets alone and mumbling,
Grumbling, screaming and dreaming.
Feel not fear, seek understanding.
I have a condition I cannot dispel.
There is no cure to make me well.
I can be helped though, should you care.
Until then, Ill see you there
On our streets.
