Human rights is not 70s. Human rights is the wave of the present and the future. There is a growing human rights movement in the U.S. that I personally am part of and that I hope our c/s/x movement as a whole will become part of.

As I wrote previously, those of us from the 70s laid the base for human rights to even be considered as relevant to c/s/x. We most definitely have a long way to go.

I do agree with Andrew that what we need to do goes well beyond human rights. We need to change the "social relations of madness," as Andrew puts it. Without respect in general social relationship for our own experiences for what they are, our human rights will never be more than a vulnerable shell.
