Subject: Re: [s-acc] New file .. PsySR project proposal
Hi
Yesterday I put in the S-ACC "Files" section the draft proposal for the PsySR project .. actually, this [one] is the 13th version of it. The 12th version was considered by the Operating Committee (OpCom) of PsySR and a compromise version was agreed upon. When we presented at Anaheim Alternatives we were aware that it had been accepted. We also knew that the compromise demanded a "first wave" type response and that that was "bad psychology" from our perspective.
Now we are able to resubmit our previous version, with adjustments. It calls for developing a "safe dialogue structure" where client/survivors (
cs) and psychologist/clinicians (pc) may talk .. obviously true "safety" is no small matter. Then it calls for construction of "role support" where cs and pc can support one another's advocacy in an authentic and respectful way. That's the stuff of "coalition."My current plan is to have this #13 version submitted approximately Wednesday. I hope people will provide insights, concerns, criticisms online here so that we can refine points and agendas, as needed. Main point here that psychology has been in a "torture denial" funk and the "first wave" of our movement has largely accommodated that; now we want to move past that dynamic in a mutually respectful manner.
The #13 version of the proposal is online
