Amen, and thank you I'm not there in LA, but unfortunately this sentiment seems to reflective throughout California. All of us who seek genuine change, need to speak up and help move our cause forward! Hopefully we can all get on the same page and make this happen for the positive, and push forward.

No doubt trying to work through disconnects is important. But there is also an issue of truth. We can sit down with NAMI, for instance, but that won't resolve their 56% funding by Big Pharma.

Unwillingness to get down to truth has led to a power vacuum in our statewide movement. We didn't know how to be respectful to [the new E.D.]. He didn't realize how deep is our denial of the process of getting to truth, either.

In L.A. there is a history of power issues that are not handled up-front and an irresponsibility regarding the matter of truth. The demise of the R.E.A.L. Project at the hand of the MHA was one prominent instance. Others since are also festering wounds today. This so-called "peace" discussion has - as is usual, I'm afraid - omitted the concern for truth.

I do not mean to say that that is uniquely an "L.A." problem or that where I live in Berkeley a parallel concern does not apply, far from it. However L.A. is the largest county in the state and tends to produce the biggest mirror.

Our struggle is about choice/freedom but it is also about respect/dignity. To mature our process, we need to address the matter of responsibility. "Get on the same page" above is the language of accommodating mutual irresponsibility, I'm afraid.
