Robert Okin is a psychiatrist at UCSF who is internationally involved in the "clinical gaze" critique stemming from Trieste in Italy. He was Commissioner for Mental Health in Massachusetts in the late 70s, and fought then against the development of a "consent" process for psych meds. Now he cites that as an example of his failure to understand how he should have taken social responsibility - but didn't.

Perhaps he could give you another way to approach the argumentation and political networking against this "safety" project.
