Hi

I have made a mistake here. I sought to explain a concern for the list and I shouldn't have mentioned anybody by name. My apologies for any hurt that accrued.

Here's a revised text:

The list description says that "To prevent our adversaries from listening in, xxx will be maintained as a closed, invitation-only list."

That's different from the CNMHC and CLIENTDISCUSSIONS lists.

That differs with the prevailing ideology of "partnership" promoted by DMH and reflected in the usual practices around "stakeholder involvement" in MHSA.

When we set up this list, the issue was Involuntary Outpatient Commitment. Now the focal issue has evolved, and we need to consider the consequences. I believe that the "learned helplessness" of the system in promoting transformation under MHSA is a better formulation of the issue at this point.

That means that not only the role of NAMI but also the role of "Network of Care" philosophy is something to consider.

Since we haven't addressed this explicitly, people seem to be troubled. I feel that we need for this list to become a safe place, again.
