Rst, you are right that this might explain the IOOV ad. But regarding the critical issues of how "mind science" should be engaged, this is merely the story of an intellectual scam.
There are projects like Critical Psychology which work on how this "mind science" business should actually be re-thought. I've participated in their conferences; they have one coming up this weekend in Cardiff, UK on "Subjectivity, " wish I could attend.
Like I keep saying "medication as the CORNERSTONE for recovery" is a fashion statement. Before psych meds, we still had behavioral management and psychoanalytic excuse-mongering.
How do we engage the 'medical model' question at the level ACTUALLY REQUIRED? Why should we get too tangled up in the "token economy" of trying to work within this scam?

Hey - this might work based on the
IOOV ad;Medical Model = Medication is the CORNERSTONE for recovery. Non Medical Model = Medication is NOT singled out as the CORNERSTONE for recovery, but whatever works.
Now I think we have finally delineated the two different models based on the NAMI IOOV ad.
