Well you will see me using the term ‘mental illness’ from time to time, simply because people are familiar with it, and because there is not another term to refer to this phenomenon that is widely recognized. Whatever terms we come up with in our closed little forums aren’t going to matter very much, except to clarify our own consciousness. On the substantive side, I believe there are persons who are by nature more sensitive, more prone to being thrown out of kilter, more susceptable to negative ways of reacting to the vagaries of life and society. I believe that I am one of those persons, and it has taken me an entire lifetime to come to the point of handling it effectively. What I do not believe is that this is a deficiency or a weakness that needs to be cured. These kinds of weaknesses are also potential or actual strengths, and to treat them simply as weaknesses to be corrected, rather than looking at their full nature, is to me nothing more than a fraud.
