You may find illuminating Zimbardo's discussion of who[m] to put on trial in his book, The Lucifer Effect. Suffice it to say that you will not find another psychologist better versed in looking at things as a psychologist. This did not stop him from identifying a number of individuals who deserve prosecution.

I don't agree, I must say. Zimbardo it seems to me is now doing "Stanford Prison Experiment #2." He's an open advocate of Ariel Merari's idea that Palestinians should be behavior managed like rats. He "woke up" and saw that torture is timely as an issue, whence the "Lucifer effect." But social learning theory as a cover story for the prevailing (Mead and Bateson, pre-Cheney) "culture" based torture agenda, the one coming back into focus, is .. problematical. I don't find his "looking at things as a psychologist" to merge with what I understand as critical psychology.
