Hi
Before the (Bay Area) regional meeting today, I participated in the
Act Against Torture demo at the U.C. Berkeley Law School graduation ceremony, against Law Professor John Yoo. Mr. Yoo wrote the memos for the White House right after '911' that justified "torture at the discretion of the President." He is a war criminal and should be tried under the Nuremburg Laws. Jose a member of the CNMHC Board and Michael an Alternate to the Board joined me.When torture rises to this level of prominence in society, our "treatment as torture" issues need to be understood in perspective. Hopefully we can see past the rudeness and hurtfulness to one another, see that we are all under a lot of stress in such bad times as today. I appreciate the [listowner]’s effort to maintain a positive perspective on this list.
