Subject: passing of Sue Poole

Darrellyn Sue Poole, a PsySR member and client/survivor activist, passed away - probably May 14 - in her home in N. Charleston, SC, under what appears to be a violent circumstance. [And no! it wasn't suicide.]

Sue was a writer who could not overcome the 2nd class citizenship ('social death sentence') afforded to "mental patients" in today's society. For instance in 1992 she wrote this article as a reporter for the Orangeburg Times & Democrat.

In 1996, when she had been gaslighted out of the role of gainful employment as a reporter, she posted this message on the client/survivor MADNESS internet list

Sue presented twice at PsySR conferences, in 2003 at UDC and in 2005 at Lewis & Clark Univ.

Sue's ashes were interred today but we will remember her in our hearts, and in our advocacy. Her attorney - who is head attorney for the ACLU in Charleston - will look at the situation. The obituary in the Charleston Post and Courier is dated May 24. Ironically when she was a young student, Sue helped with the Obituary section of that newspaper.
