Thank you, Bbb. I see this assumption, "we know bestism," at work night and day for those of us who have the misfortune of being diagnosed.
I don't want this point to be buried in the discussion on "working with Obama." It is good to explore the terms of such a collaborative, but we know that those who "know best" - including most of those in the administration and in Congress - will be sure to marginalize our concerns. So S-ACC can educate itself in the diplomacy issues related to the "impossible battle" against diagnostics, in favor of our human right to freedom and dignity. But we need to stay focused on the nurturing of our movement, on the concern for "social accountability."
Onm's poem and this follow-up thread speak directly to what I call the "denial problematic" of the objectification system. Trauma happens and we walk out and explain that it's not wholesome and .. get traumatized again.
How is listening going to happen? What do we need to do so that "notice will be taken?" When does "we know bestism" and its attendant burden, "we've got to accommodate" get challenged as a social dynamic, and how?
Good morning
