Subject: [MHOCCA] failure of civility
People tell me, “Come to the Network meeting.” Well, why not? And the answer is, “Incivility.” In that world, if you work hard for the clients, for a year or thirty years, you are worth nothing. You get dissed unless you are convenient for the bureaucratic purposes of the leadership. Well, you could become a pest, and do it cleverly, and then you can get a pest’s reward, which is attention but no honor: Yuk.

This is very sad, I’d like to be able to participate in the Network’s process. They are going to ratify a strategy for their future direction, and it will be ‘same-old, same-old’. No responsiveness to what does not work, what needs to be fixed. No answer to how come they could oppose AB1800 and let Mental Health Courts slip in. “They have not led.”

“We will.” Maybe they will do things like apologize to Carol Moss for their incivility towards her, they will maybe think of the many others who have bitterness from the ways of incivility. They don’t have to take this personally, they could imagine that there is the possibility of a social process that would remedy all this fragmentation: Show me! I think though that the clients will have to lead, if we are to make our movement wholesome in this way.

<sigh!>
I’m sorry it must go this way. This is the way of pain and stress.  :-(  Anyway I hear that the extreme summer heat in Sacramento will moderate this weekend.

Respectfully
