Your sense of dynamic harmony is remarkable. :-)
In the 90s when we did "Jobs Now!" you were involved with a project called O.F.F.I.C.E. Later you ran into an awful unintended outcome that led you to believe the project wasn't "on track" <aside I believe you make reference in your post>. But while you were involved with that, we talked "anecdotes" a lot and as usual - I'd say - your anecdotes were amazing.
The "Jobs Now!" was taken over by "first wave" forces and has tranformed into today's MHSA in Calif. You could say that in promoting this "revival dialogue" I'm looking - and in essence advocating - a path forward. Cutting a deal with PsySR on NSR is the "front end" of that advocacy, but for me it's based on an insight that the "clinical gaze critique" can be turned to advantage here. Vernon's advocacy as the Pres. of the Board of the Calif. Network is on point, too as the "first wave" perspective has consolidated its collaboration with NAMI - and "torture denial" psychology in general - to the detriment of our advocacy for freedom and dignity.
What can we do with the CGIS? Can't we work for a safer and mutually embracing dialogue between the client/survivors and the psychologist/clinicians? I thought our caucus in 'Anaheim' (actually: Garden Grove) was positive. (Lnp: perhaps you can provide some report on that experience.)
Can't we put some discipline in the work area of "psychiatric cult deprogramming" and related types of activism that can help lower the barriers of the "clinical gaze?"
Best

Andrew and I sometimes have a difficult time connecting because our thought processes are different. I tend to think in stories and analogies while Andrew thinks in more strategic fashion. It's okay because we care for and respect each other. Out of respect for him and this list, I am going to conclude my anecdotal stories with one long and final post as I get on with other aspects of life. This is not intended to be critical. I gave this as a keynote speech a while ago and I hoped to help people understand how attitudes can hurt us. We must change people's heart and spirit if we're to achieve real human compassion and understanding on a societal level. Take care all and I hope you all have a joyous and safe holiday season.
