Subject: [psysr-disc] Jane's view

Hi

Yesterday I attended Jane Mayer's talk in Berkeley. She did back-and-forth with the Dean of Journalism at U.C. who was an old-time friend of her husband.

When I got there I went to the Act Against Torture table and showed them Steven Soldz' blog. They pointed out Jane and I went to have a few words. It was brief, but I did get to inquire regarding "positive psychology." She indicated she was aware of that side of Seligman, but hadn't fully examined it. [That's my interpretation of what she said, not her words.]

In Q&A one question related to the APA. She said she didn't understand the internal issues of the APA (which I'd say is her way of talking about organizations until she does feel she understands). She also mentioned the term 'bioethics' as where she saw some important concerns focused.
