September knight of the Month

Deacon Mike Young

Deacon Mike Young moved to Cool 7 years ago from the Bay Area and joined our council/parish and has become one of our most active 75 year old brothers. Deacon Mike leads an exciting life with his 1 wife Martha, 12 children ages 28 to 51 and 16 grandchildren. This alone would be enough to keep most of us making excuses for more spare time, but not Deacon Mike. Mike has been a Deacon for the Auburn parish now 7 years and was a Deacon for 3 years prior to that. Since coming to Auburn Mike has moved the jail ministry into full gear, organizing 16 ministers and 3 priests that minister to inmates at the Placer county jail. Deacon Mike is again getting the Gabriel project up and running, is very involved in the Living well ministry where they to date have saved 31 babies. He is Chaplin @ Legion of Mary for both Auburn parishes, is now working with Father Brian on the St Vincent DePaul Chapter, teaches RCIA on Fridays and as I write is working up the Deacons Docket for the Oct Compass. With all that on his plate Deacon Mike still has to find time to make all the family gatherings at his home in Cool and in the Bay Area where most of his children reside today. Congratulations on being our September Knight of the month Deacon Mike, your energy and hard work is truly appreciated by your brother knights.

Congratulations Deacon Mike Young our September Knight of the Month

October knight of the Month

Mike Kitchell

Mike Kitchell served as Grand Knight in 2001-2002 and ever since his hard work has not waned. Mike and his wife Marcia run our annual Saint Patrick’s dinner dance. The dinner dance is a much anticipated event in the parish and as usual this year’s dance went on without a hitch filling our multipurpose room to capacity. The dinner dance is one of our bigger 1 day fundraisers and this year netted approximately $5900.00. I (Steve Crouch) would personally like to thank Mike for organizing the raffle at the St. Patrick’s dinner dance for a San Francisco sailing trip. My wife was lucky enough to draw the winning ticket and we cashed in this October. It was one of the most pleasant activities of the year for me and 6 others of my family. Mike set up everything on the boat, wine, hor'derves , dinner in Tiburon, a great captain, and if I didn’t know better ordered the great weather we had while sailing under the golden gate and around the bay. Mike is active in many other council activities, by no means all mentioned here. Mike heads our scholarship fund committee, is the council’s financial secretary, and host BBQ’s at his home for planning meetings for our summer BBQ. Mike is a St Teresa’s parishioner and can be seen as a greeter at 8:00 mass, Mike is on the parish finance committee, and if there is ever a building question or problem, Mike is one the first ones called by Father Carroll. Thanks for your endless work Mike and congratulations on being our October Knight of the month.

Congratulations Mike Kitchell our October Knight of the Month
