Hungarian formatives are shown bracketed  ( formative ) . These are absolutely necessary in Hungarian to differentiate the very considerable number of homonym root words, yet in Sumerian they are rarely shown. Perhaps at times this was unnecessary
because of the contents of a sentence or because some logograms already differentiated the meaning.  In a spoken language however this would have been impossible to use without some kind of classifier or formative ending.
