Bishop Manogue Assembly - Faithful Admiral’s Message

 Bishop Manogue Assembly (50) of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus invites Third Degree Knights and their Spouses to a Candidate Information and Orientation Night that will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 at Council 953 Hall located at 5961 Newman CT, Sacramento, CA 95819-2609.  Dress is casual.  The orientation will begin at 7:30 PM.  We will have information about the Fourth Degree and specifically about the 4th Degree Exemplification on April 10th, 2010.    Food and drink will be served after the orientation. 

 To be eligible to join the Fourth Degree, candidates must be a Third Degree Knight in good standing.  They must be a member for a least six months (1st Degree prior to Oct 10th 2009).  If you have any questions, contact me at e-mail at montmark@pacbell.net.

The Fourth Degree

The Fourth Degree is a group of outstanding Knights, dedicated to promoting Patriotism, enlightened by their Catholic Faith. These Knights, distinguished by the Order, are united by the Fourth Degree to support religious, civic and charitable causes.

Exemplification information:

What:                   An exemplification of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will be hosted by Christ the King Assembly (2797).

Where:                 Doubletree Hotel, 2001 Point West Way, Sacramento, CA 95815-4702.  Ask for Knights of Columbus Room Rate-$105.00 per night when you call (916) 929-8855 or 800-222-8733 by March 18th, 2010.

When:                       It will take most of day and evening, Saturday April 10, 2010

Qualifications:     Active 3rd Degree, in good standing, members after having completed their sixth month anniversary from First Degree initiation date (October 10, 2009).

Benefit:                    Privilege to join the Color Corps (only 4th Degree members are eligible); be addressed Sir Knight and reach the pinnacle of the Order.

Initiation Fee:      $70.00 per candidate ($40.00 for Clergy). Includes Social Baldric, 4th Degree Lapel Pin and a Banquet ticket. Checks are to made payable to the Assembly you are joining.

Other Fee:              Annual dues to the 4th Degree Assembly you are joining. This fee varies from Assembly to Assembly.                               For Bishop Manogue Assembly candidates:  Annual dues are $30 (except clergy) so the total payment required will be $100 - ($70 initiation fee and $30 dues).  Total for Clergy is the $40 initiation fee - generally paid by the Council.  Applications and fees are due to Bishop Manogue Assembly by the March 22, 2010 Regular Business Meeting.  Checks are to be made payable to:  Bishop Manogue Assembly (50). 

Other Cost:            Spouse/Guest Banquet Ticket cost $40.00; Ladies Luncheon cost $30.00; both by advance reservation.

Application:            Form 4 to be provided by any 4th Degree member, Grand Knight, Financial Secretary or call to request (See Below).   Remember that the Form 4 must be signed by the Financial Secretary of the candidates Council before bringing to the Assembly.  For Bishop Manogue Assembly Candidates: Form 4's and fees/dues are due by the Bishop Manogue Assembly Regular Business Meeting, March 22, 2010.  Form 4 instructions at:  Form 4

Attire:                      Black Tuxedo, Black Bow Tie, Black Cummerbund, Black Shoes and Socks; narrow pleated white tuxedo shirt with traditional lay down collar (No Wingtip Collars or Ruffles).                                                                                Military and Law Enforcement personnel may wear their dress uniform.                                                                       Ladies Brunch is Semi-formal;  Banquet is long formal or cocktail dress.

3:00 – 9:00 PM    Information Table for the Knights of Columbus Exemplification is located in the Hotel Lobby next to the CitySide Cafe. This is the Pick up location for all tickets except for candidates. Candidates will get their Banquet ticket at the time of registration              

6:00 PM               Friday Night Welcome Dinner – Christ the King Assembly (2797) (See flyer)

   Saturday April 10, 2010

7:00 AM               Marshal’s No Host BreakfastAll Color Corps Commanders are required to attend. See Exemplification Information Table for location.

8:30 AM               Color Corps Line Up - for participating Assemblies. All Color Corps Members are asked to bring their Regalia.

9:00 AM               Color Corps CompetitionEveryone is invited to see our District Assemblies Color Corps in action. Location will be posted at the hotel and the Knights of Columbus Exemplification Information Table.

8:00 AM               Ticket Pick Up - Pickup your events tickets (Ladies Luncheon and Non-Candidates Banquet tickets) at the Exemplification Information Table located in the Hotel Lobby.

10:00 AM             Candidate Registration Room Location will be Available at Exemplification Information Table - All candidates are to report to the Faithful Comptroller of the Assembly that they will be joining for appropriate registration. At the time of registration, each candidate will be given a name badge and banquet ticket and instructed to have lunch and report to assembly formation area for Line Up. Each candidate should know their Assembly name and number. If necessary, Faithful Comptrollers will give each candidate a piece of paper with the Assembly Name and Number on it. Candidates will be inspected for proper attire.

11:30 AM             Seating for Ladies LuncheonPrice is $30.00 for candidate wives, member wives and other lady guests (see attached flyer)  All tickets must be purchased in advance using the enclosed ticket request form. Tickets may be picked up at the Exemplification Information Table located in the Hotel Lobby starting at 3:00 PM Friday, April 9th.

11:30 AM             Line up of Candidates The Exemplification ceremony will begin promptly at 12:30 PM. Any candidate who is late will not be admitted into the chamber once the Exemplification starts. Exemplification items will be issued to each candidate during the ceremony.  Each candidate who has paid the $70.00 initiation fee ($40.00 for clergy) will receive a Social Baldric, a 4th Degree Lapel pin and Banquet Ticket. Banquet tickets for spouses and guests may be purchased by completing the attached Ticket Request Form and picked up at the Exemplification Information Table located in the Hotel Lobby starting at 3:00 PM Friday, April 9, 2010 and again at 8:00 AM Saturday April 10, 2010.

12:30 PM             Exemplification of the Fourth DegreeNo one will be admitted into the chamber once the ceremony has begun.

4:00 PM               Holy MassMass will be celebrated following the Exemplification and will be held in the same room where the Exemplification ceremony was conducted. Wives and guests are invited. Attending this Mass will fulfill your Sunday obligation.

5:00 PM               Assembly Hospitality Rooms Many assemblies will host a hospitality room for their candidates, wives, members and guests to meet for a social hour reception for the new Sir Knights. If your assembly wishes to reserve a hospitality room, you must call the Master, SK Romeo Quevedo by March 27, 2010, not the Hotel.

SPECIAL NOTE       The hotel will not accept reservations for hospitality rooms.  All reservations for hospitality rooms must be made through the Northern California District Master.

6:30 PM               No Host Social HourFoyer of the ballroom.

7:30 PM               Banquet - Price $40.00 per person. This will be the climax of the day.  Candidates will receive their Banquet Ticket at the time they register.  Reservation deadline is March 27, 2010.

      Attire:            For the banquet, all Sir Knights will be in Black Tuxedo, Black Bow Tie, Black Cummerbund.  Ladies may wear long formals or cocktail dresses.  Military and Law Enforcement personnel may wear their Dress Uniform. Clergy may wear their clerical attire.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

                              Note to ComptrollersChecks (fees) from candidates and clergy should be made payable to the local Assembly.  Each Assembly will prepare a check for their candidates and together with completed application (Form 4), forward all copies, with the check payable to SK Romeo Quevedo, Master for the total fees as soon as possible but Not Later Than March 27, 2010

Candidate Attire The candidate’s attire for the Exemplification and Banquet will be the Fourth Degree Black Tuxedo; Black Bow Tie; Black Cummerbund; Black Shoes and Black Socks; pleated white tuxedo shirt with a traditional lay down collar (No Wingtip collars or Ruffles). Military and Law Enforcement personnel may wear their dress uniform. Clergy may wear their clerical attire.

Notes:

            1. Candidates receive one Ticket from the Master. Pickup ticket when you register with your Faithful Comptroller.  If you are a candidate order tickets for your wife and other guests and check (X) your status as Candidate

2. Banquet and Ladies Luncheon tickets for spouses and guests will be available for pickup at the Information Table in the Hotel Lobby.

3. Banquet table assignments will be made in advance for all reservations made before the deadline of March 27, 2010. Reservations received after the deadline will be assigned to available tables.

4. Members and guests will be seated together; however, persons purchasing tickets late will be seated based on availability.

5. Additional instructions will be provided at the Exemplification Information Table located in the hotel.
