It distresses me to have to write this message. The subject line of this message fairly well describes the person this message is aimed at. That person is arrogant enough to think that they have the only solution to the world's problems, presumptuous enough to think that they know what is best for me and disrespectful enough to carry through with these thoughts regardless of what I think. This person took it upon themselves to create a Yahoo ID using my name (lelandsheppard), specify their own password (at least they didn't hack mine) and proceed to do work on this site under that name; my name. None of the work showing "lelandsheppard" as the creator is mine. When I originally logged on to the Yahoo site several days ago, I used lcshepp as my Yahoo ID because that is the ID I almost always use for these situations. As you can see, it is part of my normal email address. I created one entry in the bookmarks section; that entry shows "lcshepp" as the creator. I would very much appreciate it if whoever did this would stop doing it, delete the lelandsheppard profile and not do it again. I actually rode to work 8 times in February and 8 times last month because the weather was warm enough. If snow comes, it's only for a week or two. Then again, I'm willing to ride when it's below 40 degrees, but that's a matter of preference... Do you like country, city or suburbs? You name it, it's here. Out toward Winchester and Front Royal are the Blue Ridge "mountains" (big hills, actuallly) and toward Fairfax is the sprawling metropolis of Northern Virginia (over 1 million people -- this will help you feel at home if you're from LA). Jobs tend to center around 3 major areas - Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Norfolk/VA beach. I can't speak for the other two areas, but where I live is begging for workers if you have skills. It's very expensive in the metropolis, but housing costs really drop off 50 miles away. It's the same old deal as anywhere -- long commute and big house or short commute and small house. Lots of great roads only an hour or two away. Snickersville turnpike, the Blue Ridge parkway, West Virginia is only 90 minutes away and the Poconos a couple of hours north. There are a number of clubs in the area including Potomac Area Road Riders who would be glad to have you on your PC. Regards. Since traction is already compromised somewhat, I'm more careful. When I get home, I hose off the dust and voila'! The tires are no longer shiny smooth at the tread. I know everyone cannot do this. Instead of sandpaper, a green Scotchbrite pot scrubbing pad might work, too. Smooth rubber isn't the only thing to consider with new tires. I had a new set on my CB750M years ago and had gone maybe 30 miles before I stopped and casually glanced back at the rear wheel. The axle nut looked odd. I pulled out my wrench and, to my horror, discovered it hadn't been tightened! *** No harm done, I snugged it up and rode onward - Slightly shaken (not stirred). -eddie *** Not the shops' fault. On my (factory equipped self-cancelling signals) PC, once the signal has been activated and is blinking, the turn signal switch, when released, instantly returns back to the "center" position. At this point it is already ready for the next turn, even as the last activation of the switch is still blinking the left or right signals. Say you take a left, and signal. The left signal is blinking until you get the bike upright from completing the "lean" of the turn. The switch, when released from the command to activate the left, instantly returns to the "center" position, and is ready for the next signal. If then, you take a quick right turn, while the left signal is still blinking, it cancels the left blink, and starts the right signalling. There is nothing to prevent the second left signal, since the switch immediately returned to the center position after the first left signal. Does that make sense at 1:10am? I used to be a member of this list when I lived in Hawaii, but have recently moved to Orange County CA. I still have the white '89 I had in Hawaii. Back around 1997 or so the alternator on my PC went dead and had to be replaced after only about 12,000 mi. Well, the new one I had installed has just gone dead .... again! I remember after I had replaced the first alternator, several other guys had the same problem, so there was an extended conversation about the problem on this list. As I recall it was determined that there was something wrong with the design, or specific alternator used in the '89 PC. Several guys who had similar problems after me wrote to the list that they were able to get the alternator replacement paid by Honda Corp. They reported that Honda had a "hidden warrenty" on this alternator that they didn't tell you about, but if you complained, Honda would cover the cost of replacing it. I searched the archives to find these messages, but nothing came up. Since this is the second alternator, I'm kind of upset about it. Do any of you guys remember this situation, or have any information about this problem? I'd really appreciate some help since the first replacement cost me over $250. The list has moved to Yahoo! Groups. Now you can sign up for reading messages on the web only, or getting a daily digest version. Either of those options will prevent so much email piling up when you are out of town. Just thought I'd let you know in case you are interested. Trying to keep a fellow cruise control user on the list. :-) Tony ahall77379@aol.com wrote: > > I've been on this list a long time, but the time has come for me to bail.
