Subject: PC800: PEG LEG VISION
BRACKET BUYERS BEWARE: I do NOT warranty the brackets or their
installation. You buy and install them at your own risk. I do not have
time to support them in any way. YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN.
I can only attest to my own satisfaction with them. I deserve no
credit for the design and the only part of the installation I did was
measuring and cutting the holes in the covers, which is to say anyone can
do it.
NEXT: Several asked where to view the pegs and brackets. This post is
to answer everyone with one email. For those uninterested parties,
please delete now (curse later), do not pass go (stop) and do not collect
$200.
The rest of you should go to Jim Randall's website to see the brackets,
the pegs, their attachment to the PCee and read the installation
procedures at the same time. In fact, if I were you, I'd print Jim's
schtuff for future reference!!

LAST WORD: Bruce W.. the machinst, will be by my work tomorrow
afternoon to pick up the angle iron stock and some seed corn (incentive,
money). I've no idea how long it will take him to make 20 sets. I will
try to mail them out within 48 hours of receipt. I will enclose an SASE
for you to return your payment to me. By then I'll know if they're $10
or $15 a set including shipping.

Subject: PC800: Can anybody find me a part number?
One of the little threaded rubber bumper gizmos in the under side of the
trunk lid self-destructed on me. Does anybody know the part number? I
tried to explain it to the guy at HondaMil but he had no idea what I was
talking about. I feel a little bad about going to my local dealer and
asking him to look up the number so I can order it from someone else
(but not bad enough that I want to pay their higher prices).
I got a bunch of parts from HondaMil today. One of the parts had been
mis-labeled so it has to go back. The part number was off by one
letter. It made a huge difference. It was the right part but from the
wrong bike. Instead of getting a lower cowl for a '94 PC I got a lower
cowl from a Gold Wing. The part was HUGE! It looks like it could have
fit on a car it was so wide. They are going to have UPS pick it up and
they are ordering me a new one. I still have some other parts on back
order so I think I'll try and add a few minor parts to the order while
I'm waiting.

Yes I did go thru all that, and got a great deal finally by taking the =
cheapest quote. I gave the 7 panels from the Helix to a local guy, never =
saw his work area as I went only to his house, and he sprayed a recent =
Jaguar metallic red "two pack" paint for $270oz, thats about $170usa. Bet=
ween all the talk I had with Chuck, and he was VERY helpfull, I never fig=
ured out what "two pac" means in Oz. It is a paint that has a hardner in =
it, like fiberglass. I dont know if they use that in USA or what they cal=
l it. It is the most expensive type of painting here. When I showed off =
the paint job to the garage guy who reccommended the paintee I used, i =
asked him....so if this is the $270 job.....what do you get for the $700 =
job(my highest quote).
He said....."ripped off!!"
Thats my story. Ive been using the Helix every day the 2 months since pai=
nting, and one scratch cause I insist on parking and moving around betwee=
n the 5 bikes in my garage.....must have bumped one. But this is a user =
bike not a show bike, and one cant worry about that stuff. He gave me an =

Hey you guys ! I have an ADD I cut out of a Yankee paper that has a paint=

Dan,
With the windscreen at the lowest setting I just look over mine...It is
adjustable and can be moved up of course. I might take an inch off mine. Big
Bike Parts (ShowChrome) makes an adjustable backrest for GoldWings that has
corrected my back pain. Had the 2000 GL1500SE since the 16th of Feb and
already have 1500 miles on it:)
Looking through the shield is no big deal unless it fogs up or rains, then
you might find your self standing up on your pegs:) The optical quality of
the Wing's screen is excellent. My PC is sold, so I'm an ex owner now...the
Wing is not that much of a pig around town so I couldn't justify keeping
both bikes...also running out of room in the garage:( If anyone knows of a
Goldwing list similar to the pc800 list, please let me know, I plan to
monitor both. I think the Wing will be my last bike (until Honda comes out
with an improved version) LOL

Hi Dan. It always make me feel like I am looking through dirty eye glasses
when I have to look through a windshield. Even a new clean one. Being able to
look over the top of the windshield I like. BUT, I like to be able to
"scrunch" down behind it when caught in a rainstorm too. I just like having
the ability to do both.

I think you should go for six windshields, and try a Clearview. If it
doesn't work, at least you can start your own windshield store.

Dan,
I have a '95 Goldwing. I put a Tulsa 'shield on it last spring and it was
fantastic. I didn't mind looking through the 'shield at all. In the rain it
kept the rain from hitting me. That is helpful in my opinion, but vision
through a wet 'shield and visor is ????. At high speeds the Tulsa is
fantastic. The only bad thing that I will say about my Tulsa is that with it
being so large and tilted back so far you can hurt yourself when getting on
the bike. Once when I had it at the Honda dealership for a new tire the
mechanic who worked on it had a large gash on his nose when I talked to him
after the job.

I hate to correct Tim, but yesterday was a one in every *400* years ride...
Does anyone else know why this is so, and why my statement *is* correct???
If you don't believe me.... See below....
The following is excerpted from:
http://www.magnet.ch/serendipity/hermetic/cal_stud/cal_art.htm
In the Gregorian Calendar a year is a leap year if either (i) it is=
divisible
by 4 but not by 100 or (ii) it is divisible by 400. In other words, a year
which is divisible by 4 is a leap year unless it is divisible by 100 but not=
by
400 (in which case it is not a leap year). Thus the years 1600 and 2000 are
leap years, but 1700, 1800, 1900 and 2100 are not.
Therefore, the year 2000 being a leap year, was a "one in every 400 years"
event... (which made it even more special...)
